27 August 2020   |   Sports Travel International   |

The 2021 HAUTE ROUTE ALPS has reached capacity just two weeks after entries opened for general registration.

27 AUGUST 2020.  The iconic Haute Route Alps, flagship event of the Haute Route series exhausted entries for its 2021 edition today, just a fortnight after going on sale. Sports Travel International’s partners have been taking riders to the Haute Route since the event started in 2011. With a decade of experience we now know exactly what it takes to finish the mammoth Haute Route Challenge. We offer exclusive services, including additional private feed stations and stage day transfers, which make each stage that little more manageable. Our team includes former pro mechanics and experienced cyclists. Some have finished the Haute Route themselves, so can give you personal insight from their experiences.

It seems that riders have now started to look forward t0 2021, after a frustrating year of mass cancellations and event postponements. The 2021 Haute Route calendar was announced on August 3, went on general sale on 12 August, and by this morning it was announced that registrations for the seven-day Haute Route Alps had SOLD OUT.

Described by Cyclist magazine as “leg-shredding and life-changing in equal measure;” this race is considered the highlight of the Haute Route year. At a distance of over 800 km, and with a staggering 21000 m of elevation, this event presents the ultimate cycling challenge. On this seven-stage race you will take on some of the most notorious peaks and  legendary cols.

The course for 2021 remains unrevealed. This has not however put riders from across the globe snatching up the 500 places that were up for grabs for 2021.

Due to the high number of entry deferrals and roll overs from 2020, demand for 2021 entries is exceptionally high. When you combine this with a 10th anniversary edition and the masses of cyclists desperate to get their teeth back into a big challenge; the reasons for the record breaking sales becomes clear. You can however, get your hands on one of the  VERY LIMITED entries, available on any Haute Route formula, from Sports Travel International!

As Haute Route looks forward to a 10th anniversary, following the disappointing 2020 season, it is clear that the future remains bright for these blue ribbon events,

“While the Haute Route has continued to evolve and offer more destinations and more services to a higher standard than ever before, the Haute Route Alps is still beloved by riders for the reason it gained renown in the beginning: it’s the toughest amateur cycling race in the world.
We’re so proud to celebrate the race’s 10th anniversary next year. After all these years, it still epitomises everything that the Haute Route stands for. It’s been a challenging few months for everyone, so it’s such a thrill to see all the places for the event sell out in just a couple of weeks. It is proof that the cycling community’s passion is stronger than ever and we can’t wait to see everyone come together again for this incredible event in 2021.” – Julie Royer Coutts (CEO, Haute Route)

The Haute Route is remaining positive. Next year’s landmark edition promises to be an extra special event. It will feature a brand new, and even more challenging course, that is sure to keep the riders on their toes.

“We really want this 10th edition to be something memorable.” – Jean-Francois Alcan. (Race Director, Haute Route)

The Haute Route Series
